Belgium Ends 13-Year Wait with Motocross of Nations Victory at Ernee

Team Belgium are the 2026 Motocross of Nations champions, ending a 13-year wait for victory in the most prestigious team event in motocross.

Racing in front of a record crowd of more than 105,000 spectators at the Ernee circuit in France, the young Belgian squad held their nerve across three demanding motos to lift the Peter Chamberlain Trophy. It is Belgium's 16th victory in the history of the event, drawing them level with Great Britain in joint second place on the all-time winners list.

The winning trio combined the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing brothers Lucas and Sacha Coenen with Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing's Liam Everts. While other nations grabbed individual race wins, Belgium's strength was consistency. All three riders delivered solid results in every moto, and that collective effort proved unbeatable.

For Everts, the triumph carries special family significance. He becomes the eighth member of the Everts family to win the Motocross of Nations for Belgium, following in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather, fifty years after Harry Everts' first Nations win.

Jeffrey Herlings was the standout individual rider of the weekend. The Dutch superstar won both of his races for Team Netherlands on his Honda HRC Petronas machine, playing a key role in securing a podium finish for the Dutch squad.

Team Spain wrote their own piece of history with a first-ever Motocross of Nations podium. Class victories for Guillem Farres and Jorge Prado powered the Spanish challenge, marking a breakthrough result for the nation.

The 2026 edition will be remembered as one of the most atmospheric in recent years, with the Ernee hillside packed with passionate fans creating a wall of noise through all three motos.
